Spring Turkey Regulations
State regulations:(enforced by Division Of Fish & Wildlife)
1. Hunting is permitted from 1/2 hour before sunrise until 12 noon.
2. The season limit is one male wild turkey per permit: bearded hens are not legal.
3. Wild turkey may not be chased or driven.
4. No electric callers may be used during the open season.
5. Dogs may not be used to hunt wild turkey
6. Must hold a valid 2006 NJ firearm or archery hunting license: and also a valid wild turkey permit and a 2006 NWCDC hunting permit.
7. Hunters are restricted to assigned hunting zones & hunting periods.
8. Shotgun or bow & arrow only! No rifles are permitted.
9. No shot larger than #4 fine shot or smaller than #7 1/2 fine shot may be used.
10. Shotguns of 10 gauge to and including 20 gauge may be used for turkey hunting.
11. Turkey hunters may not stalk or attempt to take a wild turkey by sneaking up on the bird.
12. Decoys are permitted during the spring turkey season.
